How this was researched
Owners come from, in order of preference: City of Newport property records, the owner's own website, and recent reporting on sales. Every owner claim links to its sources (open a house to see them). Private houses are often held by an LLC or trust. Where the press has named the person behind it, that's attributed to the article. "Confidence" flags entries where the evidence is old or indirect. Ownership changes, so check the dated sources before relying on any entry. The full dataset is downloadable as JSON.
